Cecily McMillan’s trial will be start after the pretrial motion is heard March 19th, centering around brutality and two years of waiting in the “Justice” system.
“A revolution without dancing isn’t a revolution worth having.”
While this is a serious event, we hope to also celebrate, reminisce and resolve together–for Cecily’s freedom and for all prisoners.
~There will be socializing!~
~There will be dancing! Some awesome live music jamz will start at 10.~
~There will be drinks!~ (for suggested donation!)
~There will be snacks!~
~There will be a space to share old memories as well as current projects, so bring fliers, mementoes, etc that can be posted on a wall for the night!~
~There will be zines! In Our Hearts is putting together one of their awesome zine tables for the occasion!~
~There will be screenprinting! The OWS screenprinters will be there from 8-10, so bring light colored clothing or bags for upcycling!~
~There will be healing! Many in our community have been affected by the same police brutality that created Cecily’s case, and we would like to create a space to write and share those stories.~
Maintaining this case and the support network costs a great deal, so we will be taking donations at the door. We suggest $5, but no one will be turned away because of lack of funds, of course. We will also be taking donations for the drinks and snacks at the event.
We are excited to see all of you, and we thank you for your support!
The event starts at 8pm, bands begin at 10pm and the dance party at 12am-2am
at 520 Clinton Ave between Fulton and Atlantic in Brooklyn.
