The Really Really Black Friday Free Store Was a Hit

Thanks to all who came out and participated in our second annual Really Really Black Friday Free Store! It was a wonderfully successful community effort. A special thanks to our friends in the Cargo Bike Collective who made the event not just free, but also 100% internal combustion engine (and car) free!

From The Brooklyn Paper:

On the Atlantic Avenue sidewalk outside the shopping center, bag-laden deal-chasers joined crowd-averse passersby to peruse old winter coats and thumb-worn books on folding tables at the Brooklyn Free Store, a mobile, weekly event organized by anarchist types who think money should be abolished.

Anarchist activists offered the best deals of all at their Free Store outside the Atlantic Terminal Mall on Black Friday.

Our friends from Occupy Storefront and Open Arms on Long Island also held a successful Black Friday Free Store outside of the Centereach Walmart. Walmart was an especially appropriate target considering their notoriously hostile anti-labor and anti-environment practices.

Check out upcoming neighborhood Free Stores weekly in BedStuy, Brooklyn bi-weekly in Flatbush, Brooklyn hosted by our friends Flatbush Mutual Aid as well as on next Friday’s on the campus of SUNY Purchase in Westchester!
